Hyginus Fabulae, 142
Pandora
Prometheus, son of Iapetus, was the first to fashion men from clay. Later, Vulcan, at Jupiter's direction, created the image of a woman from clay, and Minerva gave it a soul. The other gods each gave their own gift to it, and for this reason they named her Pandora ("All the Gifts"). She was given in marriage to Epimetheus, Prometheus' brother, and to them Pyrrha was born who is said to have been the first mortal created.
