Satyrs and Nymphs.
A common theme of subordinate classical myths was the pursuit of woodland nymphs by satyrs and fauns. This subject, favored by classical vase painters, also appears regularly in postclassical art. Another frequent image is that of satyrs and nymphs dancing and playing together, often as bacchic revelers.
