Richard Westmacott, RA, "Wellington Monument" or more precisely "Achilles", bronze statue, monument to the Duke of Wellington, 1814-22, Hyde Park, London near Apsley House (at Hyde Park Corner); Apsley House was built as the official residence of Arthur Wellesly, 1st Duke of Wellington in commemoration of his victories in the Napoleonic War.

The caption reads
"To Arthur, Duke of Wellington / and his brave companions in arms / this statue of Achilles / cast from cannons won at victories / of Salamanca, Vittoria, Toulouse and Waterloo / is inscribed by their countrymen. Placed on this spot on the XVIII day of June MDCXXII / by command of / His Majesty George IIII."

The sword was added 1864.
