Antonio Verrio (ca. 1639-1707), Vulcan cast in facing narratives (a) at his Forge and (b) at the adultery of Venus, in "The Heaven Room" (1697-1699), Burghley House, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England.

Antonio Verrio's (1697-1699) décor of The Heaven Room depicts Venus and Mars caught by Vulcan flagrante delicto on the wall directly opposite the depiction of the busy Cyclopes at their forge. These grand panels bookend a tremendously busy, Baroque array of narratives where divinities spill from the painted ceiling and fill the walls with activity.
