OGCMA s.v. "Artemis"

ML p. 227: “Artemis is shown in profile, winged and wearing the peplos, an archaic robe folded over the shoulders, belted, and descending to the feet. On the left she holds two lions by their necks, on the right a panther and a stag.” This shows her exercising dominion over beasts of the earth.

The depictions of Achilles bearing Ajax fit appropriately with the Iliadic theme of the Francoise Vase.

Aside from the winged sphynxes, the other divinities besides Artemis are not winged. Perhaps she is given special prominence on this Iliad vase because of her role at Aulis.
