John Flaxman, sketched plan for "Colossal Statue of Britannia for Greenwich Hill" (1799), projected for erection at Greenwich, pen and ink, and pencil. The colossus, marked to exceed 200 ft in height, was, of course, never built.

The image at right is copied from David Irwin (1979), John Flaxman 1755-1826: sculptor, illustrator, designer (London, Studio Vista/Christie's), fig 230 p 166.
