John Flaxman, sketched plan for "Triumphal Arch surmounted by Britannia" (1799), projected for erection at Greenwich, pen and ink, and pencil. The arch was pilloried by some and, of course, never built.

The image at right is copied from David Irwin (1979), John Flaxman 1755-1826: sculptor, illustrator, designer (London, Studio Vista/Christie's), fig 229 p 165.
