Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957), "Danaïd" (ca. 1918), bronze expressionist bust on limestone base, 279 mm high; Tate Gallery, London, T00296.

Brancusi sculpted a "Danaid" study in marble in 1910 and then recarved it in 1925, an artifact owned by the Norton Simon Museum in Fullerton, CA. 4 bronze casts made in about 1913 are at the Musée Natinoale d'Art Moderne, Paris; the Kunstverein, Winterthur, CH, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and in a private collection in Baltimore. In 1918, 2 further bronze casts were made; these are held at the Tate Gallery, London, and in a private collection in New York.
