Mastery Images Home

Mastery Images are individual representations of individual modern usages of classical mythology. Macfarlane thinks they are salient for a variety of reasons. Students will learn about 15 for each exam. The Final Exam will test students' comprehensive recall and mastery of ALL 45 Mastery Images included in the semester's work. The "Mastery Image" portion of the exams is worth 30% of each midterm and 40% of the Final Exam's point total.

For each Mastery Image, you should be able to offer a 5-point response.
a) artist's name, b) title of the work, c) basic myth referenced, and d) (for 2 pts.) this work's particular "narrative gain". Remember "narrative gain" answers the question What does the artist gain by applying the myth?
