Neo-baroque, contemporary Caravaggista, Ferri captures the intensity of Narcissus' self-love in the extraordinarily toned body of the young man. Though there are infinitely available escapes from the ring that confines him, he struggles against it, blinded to the emotional peace that may come only through loving another.

Roberto Ferri is from Taranto, where he graduated from the Liceo Artistico Lisippo at Taranto and then from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. His work has been shown throughout Italy and around the world. His website (robertoferri.net) exhibits intriguing, eroticized adaptations of biblical and classical mythological themes.
