Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971), Oedipus Rex, opera-oratorio (1927); libretto, J. Daniélou's Latin translation of Jean Cocteau's Oedipe-roi (1925), which in turn was based squarely upon Sophocles. First performed 30 May 1927, concert performance, Théatre Sarah Bernhardt, Paris. Staged 23 Feb 1928, Vienna Staatsoper. Revised 1948.

The dvd cover-art at right depicts the great American soprano Jesse Norman (1945-2019) performing the role of Jocasta; the performance is was produced in Japan under the musical direction of Seiji Ozawa with the Saito Kinen Orchestra of Tokyo (production directed by Julie Taymor).
