Angelo Zanelli, "Roma" marble monumental sculpture (1911-1925), upon the first level of the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, a.k.a. Altare della Patria, overseeing the tomb of the Unknown Soldier (Ignoto Militi; dedicated 1921).

Working upon the model of Phidias' Athena Parthenos, Zanelli's original intent may be read differently, i.e. discretely from presiding over the tomb. Dissociated from the context of the fallen soldier, Roma binds the Monument's two halves together at the feet of the king of the Risorgimento.
