Hyginus Mythographus, s.v. "Daedalus"
39. Daedalus

Daedalus was the son of Eupalamus, who people say acquired technology from Minerva. He threw Perdix, the son of his sister, from the rooftop because of his jealousy for his engineering, for Perdix had first invented the saw. For his crime Daedalus went in exile from Athens to Crete in the court of King Minos.

247.14-15 On Who Invented What
... (14) Perdix, the son of Daedalus' sister, invented both the radial compass and the saw, after the backbone of a fish. (15) Daedalus invented statues of gods.
