ML p. 224: "Athenian red-figure krater by the Pan painter. Artemis shoots Actaeon, who falls in agony as his hounds tear him. Actaeon is shown in fully human form, and the small size of the hounds compels the viewer to focus on the human figure and his divine antagonist. The scene of the consequences of chastity violated is made the more poignant by the depiction on the reverse of this same vase, which shows a lustful Pan — backed by an ithyphallic herm — pursing a goatherd."” "
