Hatizinger's application of the Rape of Europa numbers into the dozens since the mid 1990s. While he is not the only satirical cartoonist applying the myth to the contemporary development of the European Union, Haitzinger's cartoons are prominent and extraordinarily witty. At right, Europa sits upon a bull that is of two bodies — the "Nehmer" (the takers, those on the Take) is extending a hat to the "Geber" (the givers, those who would donate) and the latter taps his head with his hoof, the way Germans do, to indicate that "You've got a screw loose in your head!" With some members of the EU asking for handouts and the wealthy nations telling them to look elsewhere, Europa herself ain't going anywhere. This is a far cry from the exuberant Europa Haitzinger put on the rampaging bull in 1994 (see Helen Morales Greek Mythology p. 7).
