Hatizinger's application of the Rape of Europa numbers into the dozens since the mid 1990s. While he is not the only satirical cartoonist applying the myth to the contemporary development of the European Union, Haitzinger's cartoons are prominent and extraordinarily witty. At right, a stringbikini-clad Europa sits upon an exuberant bull that is charging into an optimistic future. Europa shows from her ballot that she has already voted FOR the Europoean Parliament, and her body language encourages you to do the same. (Cf. Helen Morales Greek Mythology p. 7) This is a far cry from the downcast Europa of 2013 when Haitizinger suggests the bull (i.e. the energy behind the European Union has fallen upon hard times.
