Hylonome.

Hylonome — derived from Greek Ὑλόνομη, she who inhabits the woods — is a female centaur with a minor but poignant role in Ovid's Metamorphoses. With no known antecedent in extant mythology, Ovid introduces Hylonome as a lovely centauress who cultivates her beauty in the wilderness and is beloved by the centaur Cyllarus. The loving pair die tragically in the battle of the Lapiths and the Centaurs. Ovid thereby puts an elegiac twist on an arch-epic narrative scene. RTM
