Bertel Thorvaldsen, 1770-1844, "Euterpe" (muse of Lyric) and "Terpsichore" (with tambourine) plaster statuette pair 1794; ca. 50 cm tall, Copenhagen, Thorvaldsensmuseum A757 and A758. Enlarged versions after Nicolai Abildgaard (1743-1809) flank the entrance to the Amalienborg (Copenhagen) Christian VIII's Palace Gala Hall.

Thorvaldsen also engaged the imagery of the Muses in other works:

      "Euterpe" and "Terpsichore", a pair of statues = Muses1.0129_Thorvaldsen
      "Muses Dancing on Helicon" = Muses1.0130_Thorvaldsen
      "Triumphant Muse and Cupid" twice excuted plaster casts = Muses1.0131_Thorvaldsen
      series of roundel reliefs of the 9 Muses and Mnemosyne = Muses1.0132_Thorvaldsen
       “Muses: dance”, and “Muses: drama”; not this one is apparently not there.
