Gobelins Tapesserie Royale “l'Enlèvement de la belle Hélène par Pâris,” ca. 1610, mural tapestry; Chateau Cheverny, Salle d'armes

The composition of the Gobelins tapestry seems to have been derived from the (now lost) work by Raphael. That "Abudction of Helen" was engraved by Raimondi (ParisHelen1.0019_Raimondi) and secondarily by Étienne Delaune (ParisHelen2.0002_Delaune).
The most remarkable feature of this gorgeous tapestry is the vibrancy of its colors. So well preserved from the early 17th Century, the Cheverny Helen is a genuine treasure.
